5 tips to help you win the items you love in an online auction.
We hope you find them useful!
With the help of our team we have come up with some great tips to ensure your success when bidding at your next online auction. This brief guide will give you 5 tips to take your bidding to the next level.
1. There’s no need to break the bank - give your budget a sensible limit
One of the most important questions to ask yourself, and something people don’t ask themselves enough is “How valuable is the product to me?”
There is absolutely no shame in setting yourself a budget - don’t exceed the limit you’ve set yourself, and know exactly the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a specific item. This way, if you get excited and caught up in the moment you won’t regret your purchase later because you have spent too much.
2. Don’t bid on everything cool you see - focus on what you really want to buy
Narrow the scope of your bidding and spend more time on the pieces and items you truly want to own - try to buy everything you see. If you focus on winning the few things you really are passionate about, you’ll have a better chance of getting them.
3. Be quick and confident
You’d be surprised how quickly things can get snapped up in a live auction. If you’re truly interested in buying a lot of items, make sure to act quickly and without hesitation, or the next moment one of them could be gone. So, set your sights on the target, take aim, and bid.
“Don’t be shy. An auction – online or live – can seem like an intimidating affair, but it’s really quite smooth and easily navigated, using the same common sense criteria that we employ when making any purchase.”
– John C.
4. Participate live in auctions as often as possible
Perhaps I’m biased as Billy the Kid is a Live Online Auction House, but I believe this to be 100% true. Bidding live in an auction exponentially increases the likelihood of you winning, compared to placing an absentee bid. Not as many people participate in a live auction, therefore increasing your chances of winning.
5. Have fun!
Participating in an online auction is a great experience and something you should enjoy, not something that should be a source of stress! So, even though it might feel slightly overwhelming at first, you’ll soon get the hang of it. It really is great fun, and there is nothing quite like the first time you win an item you’ve had your eye on for weeks.
